Chapura Launches Cloak Version 2.0
Chapura, Inc. of Mobile,
Alabama, has released Cloak 2.0, an upgrade to its software which
protects critical information stored in Palm OS handhelds and PCs
from hackers and nosy colleagues.
Besides enhanced organizational features such as built-in
templates, Cloak 2.0 is all about further securing vital data,
including account numbers, passwords and PINs, on a user’s Palm OS
handheld and Windows-compatible PC.
"Cloak 2.0 takes securing and sharing private information to
a higher, safer level, " said Jim Chappelle, president and CTO
of Chapura. "It’s a relief to know exactly where important,
personal information is stored, and that it is secure."
Users of Cloak 2.0 can now take advantage of its ability to share
and back-up Cloak accounts via secure, encrypted Chapura vCloak
files, using encryption technology (128-bit Blowfish). By assigning
a password, the creator of the vCloak file must use it to encrypt as
well as decrypt the file.
Other enhancements include the ability to store hard copies of
account lists in other secure locations, such as a safety deposit
box, and the desktop time-out feature that locks Cloak after a
user-defined idle time period.

MobileInfo.com’s Comments & Advisory: Now that
Palm's i705 and other models to come are becoming network devices
with wireless connectivity, securing the content will become very
important. Therefore, vCloak software is timely.
