Brink's Home Security Looks for Wireless Solution to Cut Costs
Brink's Home Security, which provides security systems to over 700,000 customers in the U.S. and Canada, said it is equipping all its technicians and installers with ruggedized, Windows CE-based handheld computers from Melard Technologies.
Using Melard's Sidearm handhelds will "provide us with immense time and cost savings," said Jerry Halliburton, director of enterprise applications for Brink's Home Security.
Instead of having to contact the call center to obtain assignments and relevant data for each account, technicians and installers can download job assignments and data as necessary and then input information while on site.
Features of Melard's Sidearm Handheld Computers
- Windows CE operating system
- Integrated wireless communications (dispatch and peer-to-peer)
- Internet access
- 1-D high-capacity bar code scanner for capturing and decoding data
