American Utility Company Launches Advanced Spatial/Mobile IS
Project
Northeast Utilities (NU) has
announced a multi-million dollar project to implement a new
Integrated Spatial Information System (Project ISIS) to modernize
its operations.
The American utility company has chosen German IT systems
integrator
SchlumbergerSema to migrate its current spatial information
management system to SchlumbergerSema’s Model Office platform
utilizing its Energy Network Object Model (ENOM)
The Model Office applications include work design, asset
management, work management, outage management, mobile work force
management, engineering analysis and distribution planning.
The utility company said the first phase of the multi-million
dollar project is now complete. It involved testing the process of
migrating asset data captured using a legacy geographical
information system (GIS) into a platform based on ENOM and GE
Network Solutions software. Based on this test phase,
SchlumbergerSema will now customize and configure the technology
solution for NU, which will involve installing applications and
proceeding with data migration.
"The ISIS project is the first step in the development of an
enterprise digital utility based on integrating our key
systems," explained Bill McEvoy, IT account manager for NU’s
Enterprise Energy Delivery Systems. "This approach will allow
NU to continue to improve business processes that will further
enhance our level of customer service."
