3D Images Come to Life on Mobile Devices
In collaboration with Texas
Instruments, Pulse, a developer of emotive interface technologies,
plans to bring 3D images to life on 2.5G and 3G mobile devices.
Pulse will make its Veepers three-dimensional rendering
technology available for TI’s OMAP processors. The combination
will enhance the user experience, enabling mobile device users to
interact with MMS as well as enterprise and entertainment
applications via a personalized or celebrity character.
In addition to rendering three-dimensional characters, Veepers
has the ability to create text-to-speech and built-in lip-synching
functionality. For example, personalized characters could read back
e-mail messages to the user or be prompted to offer news reports or
driving directions.
"Rendering true 3D images on mobile devices powered by TI’s
OMAP processors creates new opportunities for the leading content
providers and the service providers who support them", said
Mark Yahiro, president of Pulse.
Pulse technology supports RealNetwork’s RealPlayer, Apple
QuickTime 5 and the leading browsers for Microsoft Windows and Apple
Macintosh PC platforms.

MobileInfo.com’s Comments & Advisory: While 3D
and MMS may not be economical today, we have confidence that it will
be in the future. Sooner or later (more likely later, than sooner),
the industry folks will grudgingly come to terms with the economic
reality of 3G.
