Bell Mobility to offer Wireless
Access Services from Motivus
Motivus Software Ltd.,
formally known as Veratium, has entered into an agreement with Bell
Mobility of Canada to provide its customers with real-time wireless access to
desktop and network files via their wireless PDA or laptop.
Motivus Mobile Desktop Enterprise Edition will enable Bell
customers to access important information such as desktop and
network files, e-mails and attachments, and calendar and contacts
using their wireless mobile device, such as a PocketPC or laptop
with Sierra Wireless AirCard or a wireless handset.
Motivus does not require software to be installed on the mobile
device or desktop computer. All Motivus products have a single point
of installation on a Windows 2000 computer and use Secure Socket
Layer, the same security technology used for e-commerce
transactions.
When Motivus is coupled with Bell’s next generation (1X)
wireless network, customers will have access to their files in a
similar manner to their office environment, said Bell Mobility’s
president and COO Michael Neuman.

MobileInfo.com’s Comments & Advisory: Motivus
software moves the desktop closer to a mobile device. It is not a
general-purpose solution to moving information to the mobile user but
can play a useful role where you can not justify the expense of
redesigning application user interface and logic for the mobile
device. Bell Mobility's 1xRTT wireless network can provide a
reasonable network speed for the mobile user.
