Purolator Courier Turns to Rogers
AT&T Wireless For Wireless Solution
When looking to improve
transmission of shipping information, Purolator Courier turned to
Rogers AT&T Wireless to provide it with a customized end-to-end
wireless data solution.
The solution will enable dispatch and field personnel,
supervisors and over 4,000 on-road Purolator couriers across Canada
to synchronize and download real-time information to handheld
computers.
Rogers AT&T Wireless called upon Dynamic Mobile Data and
Symbol Technologies to develop and deliver key elements of the
solution.
Dynamic Mobile Data will provide a two-way, packet data-based
system with dispatch and job tracking functionality to Purolator
supervisors and end users.
Symbol will deliver the wireless handheld scanning devices used
by the on-road couriers across the country.
The entire solution will run over Rogers AT&T Wireless’
GSM/GPRS network.
"The development of this real-time wireless data entry
solution means we can now track our customers’ shipments anytime,
anywhere, and every step of the way," from the time they are
picked up to the moment they are delivered, said Bob Johnson,
president and CEO of Purolator Courier.
