Sprint sub-3G Service to offer Novatel Wireless PC Cards

Sprint PCS Group has entered into an agreement with Novatel Wireless Inc. to co-brand and jointly market Novatel’s PC cards as part of its advanced wireless network.

The 3G1X compatible PC card will be available this summer in conjunction with the nationwide launch of Sprint’s Third Generation Wireless Network.

The PCS Connection Card will enable Sprint high-speed subscribers to surf the Internet and access corporate applications such as e-mail, calendars, and contact functions at data speeds of up to 144 kbps, with average speeds of 50 to 70 kbps.

Sources say Sprint will launch its CDMA2000 1X network across the U.S. in August, as network upgrades and inventories of PC cards and cell phones continue to be on schedule.

MobileInfo.com’s Comments & Advisory:  We are happy to see Novatel provide sub-3G (1xRTT) cards but we urge network operators to reduce the prices of using the new network.
