Codetoys and AirClic to Offer
Applications for Market Research
AirClic has entered into an
agreement with Codetoys to deliver new mobile applications. The
first products and services will target the needs of market and
opinion research companies. By integrating AirClic’s bar-coding
technologies with Codetoy’s Surveycode Scan products, the two
companies will enable research firms to wirelessly collect data from
participants, instead of relying on them to mail back surveys or
questionnaires.
The new Surveycode Scan products include a bar-code reading
functionality, which allows wireless survey respondents to transmit
bar-code information (EAN or UPC-codes) via a small scanning device
attached to their cellular handsets.
"By combining the bar-code technology of AirClic and code
mapping solutions with the survey and games platforms and
applications of Codetoys, we can start creating innovative solutions
for new types of mobile marketing research and mobile
entertainment," said Matti Hämäläinen, CTO, Codetoys.
According to Codetoys, Surveycode is ideal for studying consumer
goods that do not track well in traditional forms of syndicated
research. The collected data gives answers not only to what is being
purchased but also to why, when and where.
Commenting on the technology, Clarisse Berggardh, director of
Surveycode Solutions, Codetoys, said, " Surveycode Scan
products open up powerful new possibilities to all companies
interested in consumer behavior. Surveycode has proven to be faster
and easier to assess the impact of coupons and other
point-of-purchase merchandising upon the buyer."
"By using bar-code reading capabilities as part of our
product line, we are able to provide the tools for an even better
and more in-depth understanding of consumer behavior,"
Berggardh added.

MobileInfo.com’s Comments & Advisory: If AirClic
and Codetoys can design surveys conducted through mobile devices
and transmitted wirelessly, it will help in getting that information
into a market research database at the source and without keying. This
will improve accuracy. However, surveys must be easy to complete, take
less time and offer instant rewards to the participants.
