TI Turns to Certicom to Secure
OMAP Wireless Platform
Texas Instruments has
licensed Certicom’s security solutions for its OMAP wireless
platform, a highly advanced processing architecture, that sits as
the core of 2.5G and 3G mobile devices.
Making Certicom’s security technology available on OMAP
processors will enable mobile device makers to integrate strong,
standard-based cryptography into core applications without
sacrificing performance, Certicom said.
In addition, Certicom’s standard application programming
interfaces (APIs) will appeal to developers looking to build
enhanced security into services across a wide variety of
environments.
Certicom said it will add more than 30 advanced cryptographic
functions to the OMAP platform from its Security Builder toolkit,
including ultra secure and high performance cryptography such as AES
and Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC).
SSL Plus and WTLS Plus will be added to the communication layer,
Certicom said, to provide Internet browsers in next generation
wireless devices secure access to almost any service on the Web.
Ian McKinnon, president and CEO of Certicom, said, "TI's
OMAP platform will enable manufacturers, carriers, and application
developers to deliver compelling and secure 2.5G and 3G applications
and services to millions of devices."
