Microsoft have formed a strategic alliance to deliver co-developed
and jointly marketed wireless data services featuring MSN services
and content, Windows PocketPC devices, and enterprise solutions.
MSN Services

service on all data-enabled devices. Customers will now have easy
access to MSN services, including Messenger Service instant
messaging, which will be available for the first time in the U.S. as
a mobile service, as well as MSN Hotmail, Microsoft .NET alerts, and
MSN information services.
New Mobile Applications
The two companies will co-develop new mobile applications, such
as access to location-based services and other innovative technology
that will empower consumers to communicate with friends and family
even more effectively.

and deploy consumer and enterprise services. Verizon Wireless will
offer wireless devices that include Microsoft software and wireless
technology, such as Windows PocketPCs and Smartphones, to its

MobileInfo.com’s Comments & Advisory: This
is a partnership between two major players in their respective fields.
Verizon's willingness to use MSN Mobile interface including mobile
messaging as the default among its subscriber base will help MSN more
than it will help Verizon. As for subscribers, they would want more
options.
