Palm-Based Alternative Medicine
Resource Marks 2nd Anniversary
The immense popularity of
alternative and herbal treatments in the past decade has left
traditional healthcare practitioners scrambling for reliable
information.
For the past two years, e-MedTools’ AltMeds, a Palm-based
alternative and herbal medicine resource, has been providing
healthcare professionals with an easy-to-use, point-of-care mobile
solution. To mark the product’s second anniversary, the company
announced that AltMeds will include a free copy of Nutri-Rx, a
critical care nutrition databank.
AltMeds compiles over 250 peer-reviewed articles to create an
up-to-date and thoroughly researched alternative medicine resource
used in medical schools, hospitals and clinics nationwide.
Healthcare professionals can quickly review side effects and
potential drug interactions with alternative medicines, all in an
easy-to-use format.
In addition, there are multiple cross-reference lists for rapid,
narrower topic searches. Each entry contains references to relevant
scientific data.
According to e-MedTools, the application has been field tested in
clinical settings ranging from ambulatory clinics to ICUs. AltMeds
does not collect personal information, or reference use habits, for
resale to the pharmaceutical industry, the company said.
