Voice Access to Microsoft Exchange
from iHello
iHello Inc., a provider of
speech-enabled applications for the mobile workforce, has announced
a new voice application that enables real-time voice access to
corporate Microsoft Exchange systems.
The California-based company’s latest application, branded as
iHello Voice Outlook, is powered by speech recognition software from
Nuance. The speech recognition engine, Nuance 8.0, is an accurate,
scalable and reliable software for enterprise-class applications.
With a phone call to the iHello network, mobile workers can
access and read corporate e-mails, respond to critical issues and
initiate phone calls to any contact in Outlook by simply saying the
person’s name.
The system is also fully integrated with iHello’s Voice
SalesForce product, giving employees a single point of access to
information residing in Microsoft Exchange as well as their CRM
systems.
According to veteran industry analyst Mark Lowenstein, voice and
audio solutions like iHello are likely to be widely adopted by the
corporate sector.
"Mobile access to e-mail is proving to be the killer app for
wireless data," thus making voice and audio access critical to
those workers away from their networked PCs, Lowenstein said.
Solutions like "iHello’s demonstrate that the technology has
significantly evolved over the past years and is ready for broad
adoption by corporations."
iHello said that the application can be deployed worldwide to
groups, divisions or the entire enterprise, and can typically be
implemented in under a day. Unlike other solutions on the market,
iHello Voice Outlook does not require a company to purchase
additional software, hardware or devices.
The application is only a fraction of the cost of other
text-based solutions, according to the company, and does not suffer
from the limitations of region specific coverage.
