Toshiba Introduces Wireless
Mobility Server
Toshibas’ Computer Systems
Group has introduced the Magnia SG20 wireless mobility server.
This portable wireless server can be used in various
environments, including home offices, small and medium-sized
businesses, and remote offices of large organizations.
About the size of a Toshiba notebook, the Magnia SG20 can fit
into an average computer case, enabling businesses to pack up their
entire network and take it on the road. Designed to interface with
Toshiba wireless-enabled notebooks and PDAs, the Magnia SG20
connects these tools to one another for added office efficiency and
automation.
Described as a ‘network in a box,’ the Magnia SG20 enables
users to securely access and share files, printers, and an Internet
account. By adding a wireless PC card, the unit connects
wireless-enabled devices using 802.11b technology, without requiring
an external access point.
Other Features of the Magnia SG20
- Web caching
- Content filtering
- Back-up
- E-mail service
- Remote administration
- LinuxMagnia operating system
- Configurable firewall protection
- Virtual private network (for authorized users connecting
offsite)
Toshiba’s Magnia SG20 wireless mobility server is available now
on single or dual hard disk drive configurations, currently
