Three Wireless Vendors Offer Joint
End-to-End Fleet Management Solution
Three wireless vendors with
expertise in the transportation industry — Cancom Tracking, Symbol
Technologies and Synergistic Systems — have come together to
deliver a new standard in mobile technology for Private Fleets LTL
and P&D.
The partnership marries each companies area of expertise: Cancom
Tracking’s experience in tracking, two-way messaging and
integrated transportation solutions; Symbol’s proficiency in
wireless LAN solutions and handheld devices; and Synergistic Systems’
expertise in systems integration and logistics solutions.
The combination of adaptable software, rugged hardware and a
complete ubiquitous satellite network offers fleet management
companies an end-to-end transportation solution.
According to the three vendors, fleet management companies will
see improvements in the following areas:
- Communications, with accurate real-time information
- Driver management and delivery routing
- Outbound and inbound planning
- Cross dock management and yard/gate management
The integration of wireless handheld technologies with business
functions, said Peter Bissonnette, president of Shaw Communications,
parent company of CanCom Tracking, "allows an organization to
capture accurate and reliable real-time information to dynamically
make critical decisions to maximize its bottom line."
"With an integrated approach to fleet management, customers
are able to incorporate the latest technologies to increase their
competitive advantage and have a solution that is flexible, scalable
and agile enough to withstand obsolescence," Bissonnette added.
