Mobile Wireless Solution Assists New Jersey Police Officers

More than fifty New Jersey police officers are now benefiting from a mobile wireless system that allows them instant access to motor vehicle and warranty information.

Xplore Technologies, a maker of rugged wireless computers, and GTBM, a software developer, were responsible for the deployment of the system called INFO-COP.

Components of the System

  • Xplore Technologies provided the following:
      • GeneSys II and GeneSys Maximus rugged wireless Pen Tablet computers
          • Ultra Hi Brite TFT and Active Transflective 10.4" or 12.1" color screen
          • Intel Pentium processor
          • Integrated WAN, LAN, dGPS options
      • Law enforcement vehicle mounting systems
      • Wireless access and support services
  • INFO-COP Software from GTBM

Xplore’s Pen Tablet computers running INFO-COP software allow officers to submit multiple queries and access records including the transmission of photo images from a growing suite of available databases, including NLETS, State Wanted, NCIC, DMV, INFO-COP (tracks warnings and summons) and third party CAD software suites.

In addition, extensive logging of all transactions and messaging provides valuable history files, the companies said.

Commenting on the system, Rich Picolli, president and owner of GTBM, said, "INFO-COP was designed to be easy to use, yet provide officers with a powerful information tool that gives them the data they need, when they need it.  Xplore’s rugged Pen Tablet computers are ideally suited as the law enforcement market continues to use more rugged, wireless-enabled, Tablet computers."

New Jersey police departments taking advantage of the system include Jersey City, Jefferson, Ridgewood, Union County and Mountainside.

Both INFO-COP and Xplore’s rugged hardware systems are marketed by GTBM.
