DoCoMo Expands 3G Device Line Up
NTTDoCoMo has introduced two new MMS
phones, the mova D25i, and the mova F25i, for its i-shot service,
and the FOMA SH2101V videoconferencing device for its FOMA service.
mova D25i and mova F25i
Launched just six weeks ago, the i-shot service allows users to
transmit still images taken with compatible mobile phones equipped
with built-in cameras.
Both i-shot compatible phones feature a built-in camera and the
memory capacity to store a least a thousand photos. Besides the main
color display screen, each phone has a screen on the back of the
device that operates as a status display and viewfinder.
The more advanced model the mova D25i is compatible with Sony’s
Memory Stick Duo and is capable of storing 1,670 photographs, 700 in
the built-in memory and 970 in the removable memory stick.
The lower-priced model, the mova F25i, is capable of saving up to
1,000 pictures in its built-in memory and can display pictures as a
slideshow, changing photos automatically every four seconds. The
device also includes an antenna which flashes when the phone rings
or at a pre-set time, like an alarm clock.
3G FOMA-Compatible Videoconferencing Device
The Japanese carrier also launched a new 3G FOMA-compatible
two-part terminal: a PDA based unit with a Bluetooth-enabled
handset.
The base unit, called the FOMA SH2101V, features a built-in
camera for real-time videoconferencing, while the handset is used
for voice calls or for checking e-mail.
Features of the FOMA SH2101V
- 3.5-inch, 262,144-color TFT LCD touch-panel screen and a
keyboard.
- Compatible with a number of DoCoMo's packet-based mobile
multimedia services including, i-mode, i-motion, and iappli
- Capable of sending and receiving e-mails of up to 10,000
alphanumeric characters via i-mode
- Supports M-Stage visual, a video content distribution service
that enables users to download or stream movies, news, sports,
and music
