LightSurf Powers KDDI Japan's Picture Sharing Service
KDDI has chosen LightSurf to power its new "Team Factory" service. "Team Factory" will enable KDDI-users to capture, view and
share pictures with other users over all of Japan's Internet-connected
networks, including ezWeb (KDDI), i-mode (DoCoMo) and J-sky (J-Phone). The
LightSurf eSwitch server -- that powers "Team Factory" -- guarantees that
pictures sent by KDDI-users to any other mobile user will be optimized for
the display specs of the nearly 200 handsets available in Japan.

Yahoo! and Carview (similar to MSN's Carpoint) are already using LightSurf's
eSwitch technology in Japan. In the US, as part of its nationwide 3G network
rollout this summer, Sprint will launch a LightSurf-powered service to its
mobile customers, allowing them to capture, view and send pictures with
their wireless devices to family and friends on any network.
MobileInfo Advisory & Comments: LightSurf's eSwitch
server is one piece of the picture-sharing technology.
LightSurf's Instant Picture Sharing technology has been selected by several
major players in the market. Will consumers buy the hype? Only
gradually, we say!
