Motorola Introduces Premier MDCTM 5.3.20 Mobile Data Solutions Software
SCHAUMBURG, Ill., July 23, 2002-Motorola, Inc. today announced the introduction of Premier MDC 5.3.20, a wireless data solution that gives officers first hand knowledge of a potential criminal or dangerous situation before stepping out of their vehicles. Premier MDC 5.3.20 is part of Motorola's extensive portfolio of integrated communications and information solutions to address mission-critical public safety and security requirements worldwide.
Premier MDC 5.3.20, the latest version of Motorola's wireless mobile data solution, introduces 128-bit AES encryption for enhanced data security. With the recent increased focus on security, Premier MDC 5.3.20 fully complies with the upcoming federal 128-bit encryption mandate. Because personal information including a person's name, address, and warrant information is extremely sensitive, this enhanced level of encryption provides an added safeguard to ensure confidentiality.
Enhanced Global Positioning System (GPS) capabilities allow users to view latitude and longitude data on the screen at all times and identify their exact location when writing incident reports or when requesting back-up assistance on a long stretch of highway.
A modem status indicator has also been added to show officers, at-a-glance, the wireless signal strength of their modem. This feature allows officers to identify if their vehicle is currently within a wireless coverage area.
For added convenience, this release offers new options for viewing agency address books when sending a message or a page within Premier MDC. In addition to allowing officers to sort the address book entries alphabetically the new feature allows sorting by only those users currently logged on, or those who have a pager.
"Premier MDC 5.3.20 helps agencies to fight crime more efficiently with leading edge wireless technology. This technology extends data from the dispatch office to the field and is effectively helping police officers provide peace of mind, for themselves and the communities they serve and protect," said Joe Raposa, Director of Operations for Motorola's Mobile Applications. "Motorola technology continues to play an increasingly important role in tackling issues faced by today's public safety agencies."

MobileInfo Advisory & Comments: Motorola has been
active in public safety application from early 1980s. New release of
MDC appears has a few more functions. We suggest that agencies
should thoroughly investigate similar applications from other
vendors before deciding to go with Motorola. Wireless network is
important but application functionality and ease of use are more
important. Remember, you can still get your private wireless network
from Motorola.
