August, 2002 - Danger, Inc. announced partnerships with wireless carriers,
technology providers, content and applications providers and manufacturers.
Highlights of the announcements:
- T-Mobile USA (formerly Voicestream Wireless) is Danger's first wirelesscarrier partner in the U.S. T-Mobile will offer the T-Mobile Sidekick, a
mobile device based on Danger's Hiptop Wireless Solution. T-Mobile expects
to launch the service and device in the fall.
- Danger and Orange S.A. are involved in discussions about distribution of
a Hiptop-enabled device in Europe. Plans are for a launch in 2003.
Technology partnerships:
- Intel Corp., for its GSM/GPRS radio technology
- Beatnik, Inc. for its 12-voice MIDI audio engine
- KYOCERA Corp. for its digital camera accessory.
- TTPCom, for its GSM/GPRS protocol stack for the Hiptop device design
Applications and content partnerships:
- UIEvolution, games
- Upoc, games and community-building content
- nGame, mobile Java entertainment content
- ActiveBuddy, interactive agent for instant messaging
- SEVEN, for secure access to enterprise applications
- Pumatech, synchronization software
Manufacturing partnerships:
- Benchmark Electronics
- Flextronics
