Metrowerks CodeWarrior™ Development Tools Being Used by Nearly 3,000 Educational Institutions in India - Indian Computer Institute Association Member Institutions Roll Out Metrowerks Software Tools, Video-Based Training Courses

AUSTIN, Texas – August 6, 2002 - Metrowerks, a Motorola company (NYSE:MOT) today announced a major rollout of its CodeWarrior™ software development tools at nearly 3,000 of the Indian Computer Institute Association (ICIA) member institutions. The schools are using CodeWarrior development tools to teach students Java™ programming, as well as programming for the Windows®, Macintosh™ and Linux operating systems.

In addition to supplying software tools, Metrowerks also developed a series of instructor-led video courses for the ICIA covering Java programming and object technology.

“Metrowerks is clearly a leader in the development tools space, and they have a strong presence in the academic market,” said Dr. S. Mohan, Chief Strategy Officer, ICIA. “We feel that having our students learn computer programming using CodeWarrior tools is important because it familiarizes them with a toolset that is used by so many professional programmers in a wide range of markets. It was also a good choice because it allows us to standardize on a single toolset for a variety of platforms.”

The ICIA is rolling out the following products at its member Institutions: CodeWarrior Development Tools for Windows, Professional Edition; CodeWarrior Development Tools for Java, Professional Edition; CodeWarrior Development Tools for Mac OS, Professional Edition; and CodeWarrior Development Tools for Linux, Professional Edition.

“This represents a significant investment in our development tools and we are extremely pleased to have such a major endorsement by the ICIA,” said Jim Welch, President and CEO, Metrowerks. “This is an indication of the strong reputation of our CodeWarrior products in academia, and we are committed to continue providing students, as well as professional programmers, with the best development tools available.”

Metrowerks’ cross-platform CodeWarrior compilers support C, C++, Java and assembly programming languages, while allowing programmers to build applications from one unique integrated development environment.
