Telemac & Schlumberger Announce Collaborative Efforts in Wireless Billing
& Payment Processing
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - September 10, 2002 - Telemac Corporation, the leader in network-edge real-time accounting and billing technologies for the wireless industry, today announced that it has expanded its agreement and joint marketing efforts with SchlumbergerSema, a business unit of Schlumberger Limited.
In March 2002, Telemac and SchlumbergerSema announced their collaborative efforts in developing and marketing SchlumbergerSema Telemac-enabled(tm) SIM cards for GSM wireless devices in North America. Telemac and SchlumbergerSema now will also:
- Expand their marketing, product development and licensing efforts to worldwide markets;
- Explore additional implementations, such as R-UIMs and other smart cards for CDMA wireless devices; and
- Target and actively market SchlumbergerSema Telemac-enabled(tm) smart cards in the rapidly growing Asia-Pacific markets.
SchlumbergerSema Telemac-enabled(tm) smart cards for wireless devices will support Telemac CostControl(tm) technology and will be made available to Telemac-licensed GSM and CDMA networks and resellers worldwide. Telemac CostControl(tm) technology, part of the Telemac Advantage(tm) suite, is a patented state-of-the-art network-edge real-time billing and accounting solution for prepaid wireless services and traditional post-paid services with adjustable spending limits.
SchlumbergerSema Telemac-enabled(tm) smart cards will include newly customized software, offering the same functionality as the traditional Telemac IMA-Module(tm) and will support GSM and potentially CDMA wireless devices.
Telemac CostControl(tm) technology offers rapid deployment, scalability, seamless national and international roaming, reduced non-revenue generating network traffic, personal account verification via function keys on the wireless device, and a web-based administrative tool for modifying program parameters. The Telemac Advantage(tm) suite is available in implementations ranging from a license and support agreement, to a fully managed ASP service from Telemac's carrier-class technical operations center.
