SEGA MOBILE TO DELIVER GAMING CONTENT TO THE POCKET PC - Company Offers Classic SEGA Titles to Burgeoning Wireless Market

SAN FRANCISCO (September 23, 2002) - Sega Mobile, a division of Sega.com™ Inc., a network entertainment company integrating Internet technology with innovation, today announced its plan to deliver SEGA game content to pocket PC platforms. Simultaneously scheduled for launch in Japan, this new offering will be a convenient method for pocket PC users to download and play SEGA games on the go.

Starting today, pocket PC users can download SEGA game packs that include three classic SEGA games. A free trial version of each game will be available to provide a sneak peak prior to purchase. Consumers first download the game content to a PC and then the game will be automatically transferred to the users pocket PC. With this new offer, SEGA game content is available to any pocket PC device equipped with a MIPS or ARM processor with at least four buttons and a d-pad. The following popular SEGA titles are among the first planned for release: Super Golf, Slider, Vampire: Master of Darkness, Columns, Halley Wars, Sega Game Pack 4-in-1, providing a sampling from the library of innovative gaming content SEGA has built over the past 50 years. With this new offering Sega Mobile is prepared to lead the way in wireless gaming and continue to bring innovative content to gamers everywhere.

"Expanding our offering to the wireless PC platform is proof of our commitment to provide the best in gaming to all devices," said Fred Huey, Chief Operating Officer of Sega.com. "Now gamers can play classic Sega games anytime, anywhere."

Currently, there are over 90 million wireless subscribers in the U.S. and the global market for wireless Internet devices is predicted to grow by 630 percent by 2005.

MobileInfo Comments and Advisory:  Wireless gaming is an attractive application for mobile devices. Sega is well-known for games for kids. Pocket PC is more matured PDA popular with enterprise professionals. Nonetheless, some Pocket PC users (especially the young adults who have grown with Sega games) will find these games entertaining at airports, subways, train stations and other places where they need to relax rather than prepare presentations for their CEOs.
