Ad-hoc Workgroup Environments

Colligo Workgroup Edition, Colligo's premier product for the mobile workgroup market is making headway by leveraging short-range wireless or WiFi technologies. It boasts of enhancing productivity in teams that are on-the-go and that critically interact in temporary or ad-hoc network environments. Particularly interested in this product are consulting and audit houses such as KPMG and PriceWaterHouse-Coopers. Compared with the time, hassle and expense of using frustrating traditional communications and data sharing methods (like a wired hub or dialup), disk swapping, sending email, using Infrared or establishing mini-LANs in the field, Colligo's software offers a connection-less method for real-time messaging and resource sharing thereby making it faster, easier and more flexible means of information exchange and that requires no training and IT support. Other mobile teams that face similar hurdles when trying to work together in disconnected scenarios like management consultants, project groups, media reporters and editors, film production crews, etc. are also said to benefit from Colligo's latest product.
Colligo Workgroup Edition's patent-pending core feature set includes server-less connectivity and real-time messaging and resource sharing without the use of a corporate network or Internet connection. This implies dynamic discovery of people and resources on the network, user authentication through an innovative peer-to-peer scheme and database synchronization (e.g. Lotus Notes) with others - all without a server. In addition, Colligo Workgroup Edition offers SSL-based data encryption, folder and printer sharing, and an increased maximum user connectivity of 50. For
ad-hoc workgroup networks, this is a boon as it increases audit team productivity, reduces field hardware costs and reduces legal liability risks by insuring simultaneous replication of the latest information. With Colligo's software,
ad-hoc workgroups can now immediately exchange information (file/folder transfer), share resources (printers & folders), communicate (chat & IM) and replicate databases (Lotus Notes) in a different spot any time on a secure instant network.
"We believe that with the right tools in hand, workgroups can be more productive than they are today and that the setup and support normally associated with mobile teams can be reduced significantly," said Barry Jinks, president & CEO, Colligo Networks. "Colligo Workgroup Edition is a unique productivity application that doesn't rely on traditional and often unavailable Internet connections or client/server access in order for team members to work together. It's ad-hoc networking and collaboration for workgroups anywhere, anytime."

MobileInfo Comments and Advisory: We
want to applaud Colligo in taking a simple concept based on
common-place WiFi networks and P2P protocols to build ad-hoc networks that improve
workgroup productivity. It is not rocket science but a small
workgroup business booster. Well-done, Colligo! May we
suggest that Colligo should partner with Ray Ozzie of Groove
Networks or does Colligo consider Groove its competition? Where
individual pride does not come in the way, collaboration helps.
