Ontario Patient Transportation Company Selects NextAir's m-dispatch Application Software

Nextair continues customer deployment as appetite for wireless solutions show real signs of growth.

Toronto, Ontario, October 22, 2002 - Nextair Inc. (TSX: NXA) is pleased to announce that Ontario Patient Transfer, a member of the Medical Transportation Association of Ontario, has signed an agreement to utilize mdispatch™, Nextair’s web based wireless workforce management application along with Nextair’s latest Patient Transport enhanced module for directing mobile operations.

Ontario Patient Transfer operates a fleet of ambulances and patient transport vehicles through three branch locations, traveling Ontario-wide and into the USA on-call from regional hospitals. Ontario Patient Transfer employs Paramedics, Levels 1 & 2, RN’s, RPN’s, EFR-D’s, EMA’s, and EMR-D’s for neo-natal infant and patient transfer and offers services for on-site medical for special/sporting events in southern Ontario.

Ontario Patient Transfer will use Nextair’s hosted mdispatch™ business solution and has licensed Nextair’s AIRIX enabled wireless handheld device applications for its fleet for scheduling, monitoring and tracking of patient transfer requests to/from hospital, clinics, diagnostic/treatment centers and nursing homes.

Rick Van Kleef, president of Ontario Patient Transfer said “On-time reliability, customer service and the need to fulfill contract obligations require complete real-time monitoring of pick-up, delivery and status updates of all fleet and patient transfer activities. As our staff is accustomed to hospital settings where mobile data and device radio modems must be shut off, added to the fact that our staff encounter geographic regions and building settings which do not allow for wireless data coverage, AIRIX allows the mdispatch handheld application to have 100% up-time operation. This is a key benefit we did not see with other solutions and something not possible with browser handheld wireless applications.”

mdispatch™ is an ASP hosted dispatch software service based on Nextair’s award winning AIRIX wireless platform. mdispatch™ has recently been licensed for deployment by wireless operators in Europe and North America who plan to bundle the application with devices and airtime, then marketing it to their business customer base through their wireless data sales channel. mdispatch™ supports RIM, PocketPC, browser and WAP devices on virtually any wireless network. It offers features designed to streamline dispatch operations making it a perfect fit for a number of industries worldwide.

Nextair’s President and CEO, Simon Fraser, says “We’re very pleased to see another success as Ontario Patient Transfer takes advantage of enhancing their own productivity while moving their business into the future with the latest wireless data services and devices. Nextair’s wireless business solutions and our AIRIX wireless technology are gathering momentum in the marketplace and gaining recognition by organizations in North America and Europe.”
