New Software from JP Mobile Synchronizes and Manages Hand-held Computers
JP Mobile(TM) said its new SureWave(TM) Enterprise Server 3.0 software gives businesses flexibility to extend applications to their mobile workers on hand-helds computers like Pocket PC, Palm and RIM. The software provides secure, synchronized access to Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Domino groupware, as well as the ability to develop and deploy field applications needed by mobile workers, the company said. How businesses choose to connect is within their full control and discretion with SureWave -- whether that is through traditional cradle, wireless LAN (802.11b), Bluetooth or any wireless network, including Mobitex, CDMA, GPRS, GSM and CDPD, JP Mobile said. The software allows audits to be generated, such as listing the people with hand-held access to corporate data and identifying the specific applications they can access. SureWave also simplifies administration of corporate security policies for hand-helds by incorporating features that can be implemented on the fly from anywhere in the world. These include instant quarantines of hand-helds and their users when hand-helds are lost. SureWave gives businesses a secure, bi-directional connection between hand-helds and their data from behind the corporate firewall, the company said. (Source: allNetDevices)
MobileInfo Comments and Advisory: JP
Mobile has adopted RIM's business model in an open environment -
interface to two of the most popular e-mail platforms (MS Exchange
and Lotus Notes). It is also supporting multiple devices and is
providing core device management, synchronization and security
features on top of that. SureWave offers a pretty good set of
features for implementing e-mail solution in the enterprise.
