MDeverywhere's Encounter Capture to be Deployed at Beth Israel Medical Center
DURHAM, N.C. and NEW YORK, N.Y. (December 17, 2002) - MDeverywhere, a
leader in providing handheld solutions for physicians to improve efficiency
and accuracy at the point of care, announces a commitment for encounter
capture solution deployment at Beth Israel Medical Center (Beth Israel), one
of four hospitals that comprise Continuum Health Partners. Initially, the
service will be implemented in the Departments of Urology and Medicine with
the intent of enterprise deployment and streamlining the entire revenue
cycle.
"The process of capturing patient encounters and expediting billing has
increasingly become a complex, time consuming process," says Brian Flynn,
vice president of network professional services at Beth Israel. "MDeverywhere has a very strong, proven value proposition, and we are
looking forward to leveraging the MDeverywhere platform and seeing the
financial benefits from an improved revenue cycle."
Manually collecting and processing diagnoses, procedures and supporting
documentation is an inefficient, paper-based process in most medical group
organizations that results in frequently lost charges, duplication of effort
and submission of inaccurate claim information to payers, including the
Federal Government's Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. The outcome
is often delayed or denied claims and can potentially subject the organization to regulatory problems. The MDeverywhere solution provides a
simple, physician-friendly process to collect and transmit encounter
information, thus providing a powerful tool to drive successful revenue
cycle management initiatives.
"Healthcare organizations nationwide are struggling to provide exceptional
care and keep the cost down. Squeezing all efficiencies possible out of the
current system is a necessity in today's economy," says Dr. Thomas
Killip, interim president of Beth Israel. "The organization expects to see a
positive return on investment, and our physicians are looking forward to
asserting more control over the billing process."
MDeverywhere will leverage its existing interface to work seamlessly with
Beth Israel's IDX practice management system. The company also allows
physicians to choose their preferred handheld platform, whether Palm OS or
Pocket PC.
"Beth Israel Medical Center is a perfect fit for MDeverywhere," says David
Morris, MDeverywhere national vice president of sales and development. "The
medical center has a complex billing system and a multi-facility environment
that makes it difficult to manage inpatient and outpatient charges effectively. I am confident they will see a marked return on investment in
a very short time."
