Digital Dispatch and Taxi Stockholm Sign Landmark Contract

Richmond, BC, January 31, 2000Digital Dispatch (Intl) Ltd. of Cambridge, UK, a wholly owned subsidiary of Digital Dispatch Systems Inc. of Richmond, British Columbia, has signed its largest contract to date, worth over 15 million Canadian dollars, with Taxi Stockholm 150000 AB of Stockholm, Sweden. The $15 M contract for a new computerized taxi dispatch system, which includes a 5-year maintenance contract, will be implemented in eight phases over the next 2 years.

A multi-phase installation has been adopted in order to ensure an efficient and seamless upgrade. The initial phases of the project will include a radio infrastructure trial, followed by a rollout of 1800 colour Mobile Data Terminals (MDTs) interfacing to Taxi Stockholm’s existing dispatch software. The final phases will include the implementation of the Digital Dispatch’s Pathfinder software.

Mr. Vari Ghai, Digital Dispatch’s President, stated, “Taxi Stockholm is one of the world’s most professional organizations and, as a demanding customer and pioneer in the use of wireless dispatch technology, have been responsible for major innovations in taxi dispatch systems. Once their new system is installed, they will have the world’s most sophisticated system both in terms of MDTs and application software.”

This upgrade will be a 3rd generation computerized taxi dispatch system for Taxi Stockholm. Their first system, Taxi 80, was implemented in the early 80s while their second system, supplied by Motorola, has been operational since 1990.

Mr. Anders Malmqvist, Chief Executive Officer of Taxi Stockholm, explained, “It has taken us, all in all, 18 months to find a partner who meets with our standards on both functionality and features, for our 3rd dispatch system. We are very confident that Digital Dispatch will live up to its commitments and I am personally looking forward to working together with Mr. Vari Ghai and his team.

In the near future, Digital Dispatch plans to open a sales support office and repair centre in the Scandinavian region. A presence in the area will allow them to maintain their high standards in customer service and will offer the company a greater opportunity to grow within the Scandinavian market.
