2000 - LXE Introduces the LXtrEme MX3 Series
Of Rugged Mobile Computers
New MX3 Series offers unique form factor, enhanced power management features, and IP66, LXE's toughest Industrial rating
LXE Inc., a leader in the design and manufacture of wireless products and solutions that improve the productivity, control, and accuracy of supply-chain management and logistics, today announced the availability of its new LxtrEmeÔ MX3Ô series of rugged mobile computers. The MX3 series is the latest in LXE's advanced line of rugged mobile wireless computers offering a unique form factor, enhanced power management features, communications versatility, and configuration flexibility for a broad range of mobile computing applications.
"The LXEÒ MX3 is the first of an entirely new generation of rugged wireless mobile computing devices offering unique ergonomics, and industry standard hardware and software platforms" says Rich Andros, Vice President, Marketing of LXE Inc. "The LxtrEme™ MX3™ offers superior usability in a handheld product because it can also serve as a half-VGA horizontal form factor vehicle-mounted unit. The unit's docking system allows it to be used in either form with equal ease. With integrated barcode reader technology, and radio frequency (RF) wide area network (WAN) or local area network (LAN) communications support, the MX3 is one of the most versatile mobile computers in the industry."
Among the MX3's unique industry features are its "glow-in-the-dark" phosphorescent material keypads, which eliminate the need for power consuming backlighting, four configurable keyboard options, and a rugged IP66 industrial rating. In both radio-enabled Batch and traditional Terminal Emulation models, the MX3 provides exceptional adaptability for users in a wide range of applications.
Utilizing LXE's new energy efficient Intelâ 486 ULP processor platform, the MX3's system architecture extends battery life, and a powerful Li-Ion battery pack with in-unit charging supports full-shift use under normal conditions. The powerful 486 processor and industry standard operating system ensure PC-compatibility, and allow the MX3 to run many of today's high-performance, advanced software applications crucial to the supply-chain management environment.
