Ruggedized tablet PC brings new speed and convenience to portable computing.

Fullerton CA-Xenocom, a fast-growing supplier of ruggedized computers, today introduced Xenus, a touch-screen tablet computer that offers the highest level of performance in a shock-resistant computer. With a 400MHz CPU, the lightweight unit is well suited for field applications that require uncompromised mobile power. Resistant to shock, vibration and dust, the Xenocom unit boasts Pentium II, III or Celeron 400 MHz processors with 64 MB on board, plus scalability to 192 MB.

Designed for the traveling professional, the Xenus tablet is especially suited for the hazards of off-pavement applications such as exploratory drilling, pipeline construction or maintenance sites,  checking remote installations or inspecting power and water lines.

Alan Shadd, Xenocom President said, "This breakthrough tablet was engineered to fill a void in our growing market. The unit can handle the most rugged environments without the weight of the typical ruggedized portable." Weighing 8.15 lbs. in a 13" x 11.5" x 1.85" case, Xenus supports full-featured WindowsÒ 98, NT and regular PC applications.

The PC features a touch screen, pen or keyboard to speed data input or calculations with options including a sun-readable LCD panel, wireless keyboard, a back lighted dust and water proof keyboard and 56K modem. Available with two screen options-13.3" XGA with resolution of 1024 x 768, and 12.1" SVGA with a resolution of 800 x 600, the true TFT LCD offers superior daylight readability.
