MAX Creates The Smarthome Of The Future...
X-traWeb, Inc. Makes Home Automation a Reality

GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo. (October 18, 2000) – The house of tomorrow, first pictured in matinees and cartoons in the 1950s, is finally here. MAX™, a product of Colorado-based X-traWeb, Inc., gives people the power to turn on and off almost any electronic device or system in their house – through a PC, Palm Pilot, or Web-enabled cell phone.

MAX is a new form of wireless technology that puts observation and control of regular household appliances and electronics on the Internet. Each appliance, whether it’s the TV, oven or sprinkler system, has its own designated Web page that can only be accessed by the owner. Because MAX works on a standard HTML platform, any device with Web capabilities can access the appliances. MAX doesn’t need a PC to operate, so it’s more economical for the average homeowner and not susceptible to downtime from power outages.

“We are using the same technology for MAX that we have been using for commercial applications, and now we’re bringing it home," said David Singer, CEO of World Wireless Communications (AMEX: XWC), parent company of X-traWeb, Inc. “We have all the pieces in place for a home automation product that’s ready today.”

The uses for MAX are limited only by one’s imagination. If you are driving home and want to preheat the oven before you walk in the door – grab your cell phone and dial it up. If you have already left for vacation and want to be sure you turned off all the lights, you can double-check it with a Palm Pilot™. If you are at work and need to turn off your security system for a few hours to let the plumber in, you can do it from your office PC.

MAX also sends warnings if an appliance isn’t functioning properly. If the temperature in the fridge begins to rise, a sign that the motor may be failing, an e-mail message alert is sent that it needs service. Early detection can save time and money by correcting problems before they become disastrous.

"We believe that builders will like MAX for their customers.  Not only is it easy to install, but it's also customizable, economical and nonproprietary," said Singer.  "It's a system that enables builders to give the average homeowner a completely automated home today along with the peace of mind and convenience that a system like MAX gives."

Greenwood Village, Colorado-based X-traWeb, Inc. was founded in 1999 to develop and market the X-traWeb™ system – an Internet-based product designed for remote monitoring and control of  systems and devices. X-traWeb’s many applications include security systems, vending machines, asset management, industrial kitchen appliances and utility meters. More information on X-traWeb is available at www.x-traweb.com.  X-traWeb, Inc. is a subsidiary of World Wireless Communications, Inc. (Amex: XWC), a leading developer of Internet systems, technology and embedded wireless products.
