PRODUCT PRESS RELEASE Synchrologic’s
iMobile Suite First to Automatically Deliver Corporate Documents –
Including Microsoft Word and Excel Files – to Palm Computing Devices Corporate
network-based files such as price lists, spec sheets, phone lists, product
information and press releases now available anytime, anywhere ATLANTA
(Jan. 31, 2000) – (www.synchrologic.com)
Finally, information stored
in the most popular corporate file formats – Microsoft® Word and Excel
– can be distributed automatically to Palm Computing® devices.
This new capability provides the fastest way for an enterprise to
transform Palm Computing devices into real corporate computing assets. Synchrologic’s
new iMobile File Distribution for Palm Computing uses technology licensed
from DataViz, Inc., to enable a corporation to distribute the wealth of
information in files on the corporate network to Palm users, providing a
structured solution for automatic versioning, updating, guaranteed
delivery and remote receipt logging. With
iMobile File Distribution, important files residing on the corporate
network are automatically downloaded to the target mobile workers when
they synchronize through iMobile Connect, the one-tap connection interface
which triggers all iMobile Suite updates – including software
distribution and data synchronization. iMobile
Suite, Synchrologic’s flagship product, is the most comprehensive
Internet-based enterprise mobile solution, encompassing file distribution,
data synchronization and software distribution for laptops and handhelds
based on Palm OS, Windows CE and Windows. An important benefit of iMobile File Distribution for Palm Computing is that it converts Microsoft Word and Excel files into viewable files which the Palm device can display. The Synchrologic software includes viewing technologies from DataViz® Documents To GoTM, an end-user product which makes MS Word and Excel files from a user's desktop PC viewable on the Palm device. Other formats supported by iMobile File Distribution for Palm Computing include Lotus 1-2-3, Lotus Word Pro, Quattro Pro and WordPerfect. “iMobile
File Distribution for Palm Computing enables corporations to make sure
that vital, up-to-date information is in the hands of their mobile
workers,” noted Bill Jones, vice president of product management and
marketing of Synchrologic. “Instant
access to pricing lists, product spec sheets or competitive information
adds substantial competitive advantage in business situations.” DataViz
sees the incorporation of its technology into Synchrologic’s product as
a natural way to help organizations deliver crucial information to mobile
users. "We're glad to enhance the iMobile Suite,” said Dick
Fontana, president of DataViz. “This will extend the document
distribution capabilities of our Documents To Go product to give it even
more applicability for enterprise customers." "We
have installed iMobile File Distribution at some of our client sites to
help them better manage and distribute file-based information to their
mobile workers," said Todd Irey, president of Cogent Software, Inc.
"Extending the capability to centrally distribute files to
Palm users is a good idea, and makes sense to leverage file distribution
capabilities across mobile platforms." iMobile
File Distribution is one of three products in iMobile Suite. The other two
elements are Software Distribution, which allows central management and
delivery of mobile software; and Data Synchronization, which delivers
bi-directional, field-level synchronization between mobile client devices
and various enterprise database servers, including Oracle®, Microsoft®
SQL Server®, IBM DB2® and Sybase®. All
products support laptops and handheld devices based on Palm OS, Windows CE
and Windows. Pricing
and Availability iMobile
File Distribution for Palm Computing will ship immediately and will cost
$69/user. A Desktop Edition of iMobile File Distribution is available for
corporate purchase from Synchrologic for $39/user. The Desktop Edition
enables end users to synchronize desktop productivity documents from their
desktops to their Palm devices. About
