NowSpeed Delivers Mobile Email Portal Enterprise Server

Brings Economical, Secure Deployment of Corporate-Quality Mobile Email Services Throughout the Enterprise

PC Expo, New York, June 25, 2001 – NowSpeed, Inc., the first mobile solutions company to offer device-independent wireless email, today introduced the NowSpeed Mobile Email Portal™ Server, a turnkey server-based solution that allows enterprises to easily deploy secure and robust corporate-quality mobile email services to employees throughout an organization. Using the NowSpeed Server, employees are given secure and easy access to their corporate email from any mobile device, including fast attachment support and complete synchronization to their enterprise email servers, from any mobile device including WAP, Palm, PocketPC, browser-enabled phones, pagers, work or home PCs, touch-tone phones and any standard Web browsers.

NowSpeed will be showcasing its NowSpeed Mobile Email Portal™ Server at PC Expo, Booth #4863, Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, New York City.
"With the NowSpeed Mobile Email Portal Server, we have the most comprehensive and flexible delivery model of any mobile email gateway provider in the industry," said David Reske, president and CEO of NowSpeed. "Our suite of mobile email services can be deployed as a hosted service or now on a server installed at the enterprise. This gives organizations of all sizes a wide range of options for making their employees more productive, responsive and efficient with mobile email."

The NowSpeed Mobile Email Portal Server gives enterprises a mobile email gateway that is securely installed at the enterprise behind their firewall, giving IT professionals the comfort that their mobile email gateway is in their control and complies with their security policies. Additionally, NowSpeed can remotely maintain the Mobile Email Portal Server for technical upgrades and enhancements, making it easier for IT organizations to manage the system.

"CIOs can feel secure in the knowledge that the NowSpeed Mobile Email Portal Server is behind their firewall and meets their security standards," said Rob Friedman, chief technologist at NowSpeed. "Enterprise customers require strict control over the email coming in and out of their organization. The NowSpeed Server gives them that control without sacrificing the rapid deployment of mobile services."

NowSpeed’s Mobile Email Portal Server features:

  • Enterprise Email Server Compatibility: Corporate-quality email including attachments, support for Lotus Notes™, MS Exchange™, iPlanet, IMAP4 and POP3.
  • Email Accessible on Many Mobile Devices: Support for Voice, Palm, Palm VII, Pocket PC, WAP, and HTML.
  • Security: Completely secure solution protects users from unauthorized email access. Includes support for SSL and user id and password authentication.
  • Attachment Support: Files including Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and Excel and Adobe Acrobat are converted to text on the server, greatly reducing the size of the file and making them viewable on the mobile device. Attachments can also be printed to a fax machine.
  • Synchronization: Automatically synchronizes email messages across all devices and eliminates duplication of effort.
  • Personalized Notification: Personalized push of specified new email on pagers or SMS-enabled mobile phones.
