Press Release 2002
MOBILE AUTOMATION
AND POWERQUEST PARTNER TO INTRODUCE FIRST MOBILE MIGRATION SOLUTION - Mobile
Migration Manager Migrate Remote and Mobile PCs in one integrated
solution.
Westlake Village,
Calif. - October 21, 2002- Mobile Automation Inc., the leading
provider of Mobile Lifecycle Management Software, and PowerQuest®
Corporation, a provider of storage lifecycle automation solutions
worldwide, today announced partnership that allows Mobile Automation
Inc. to offer Mobile Migration Manager , the industry's first
fully automated and integrated mobile migration solution. This
integrated solution is immediately available worldwide from Mobile
Automation.
Mobile Migration
Manager integrates components of Mobile Automation's Mobile
Lifecycle Management Suite with PowerQuest's Virtual Volume Imaging
(V2i) Technology, included in its operating system (OS) deployment and
user profile migration solutions, PowerQuest PQIDeploy and Migration
Manager.
The integration of
the two best-of-breed technologies creates a groundbreaking, seamless
solution that establishes the only mobile migration solution on the
market today. Whether in a LAN, WAN or wireless network environment,
Mobile Migration Manager can migrate remote and mobile PCs to
Windows 2000 or XP anyhow, anywhere, over any connection speed.
Using sophisticated
technologies such as dynamic bandwidth throttling and smart fan-out
replication, Mobile Migration Manager enables enterprise
organizations to migrate thousands of remote PCs over a short period
of time, with minimal IT intervention. Additionally, because
Mobile Migration Manager deploys the new image in the background, end
user productivity remains constant and dramatically reduces the
traditional costs of a Windows 2000 or Windows XP migration project.
"Both PowerQuest
and Mobile Automation have identified the market need for a seamless,
automated OS migration solution for remote and mobile PCs.
Mobile Migration Manager will provide a fast return on
investment and at the same time can be rapidly implemented and is easy
to use. This leading edge mobile solution is particularly valuable for
our enterprise customers who continue to see an increase in deployment
of laptops for their remote and mobile workforce, and for our Managed
Services Partners, who until now were unable to provide migrations as
an offering due to the associated onsite costs," said Douglas
Neal, president and CEO Mobile Automation Inc.
"Enterprises
increasingly require OS migration support for remote and mobile
laptops," said B.D. (Bill) Johnson, senior vice president of
business development and OEM partnerships at PowerQuest. "Our
V2i-based deployment technology, combined with Mobile Automation's
targeted mobile products, provides a robust solution that accelerates
the adoption and distribution of high-value OS and application
upgrades."
