Telxon  (Acquired by Symbol in 2000) Airline Application

Solution Description

For airlines a large number of destinations means a large number of check points. Whether it’s personal baggage or a shipment customers require dependable service. In order to provide customer service and security, airline companies require a process to label, ship and track baggage items. Telxon’s Airline Application provides a mobile solution that utilizes barcodes and a wireless technology system that updates the status of baggage in real time over a spread-spectrum network. Telxon’s Airline Application electronically processes and tracks items of baggage arriving at and departing airports. Telxon’s mobile computers allow airline agents and baggage handlers to track a customer’s airline, flight number, bag number and also the unique employee ID of all employees coming into contact with an item. Making it easier to process baggage shipments, Telxon’s Airline Application makes it easier to locate and report misdirected baggage. Telxon’s wireless system enhances airport security measures by requiring proper security from baggage handlers during transit.
