Wireless Gaming Issues

  • Whether the games should be stand-alone (embedded) or collaborative that will generate increased network traffic.  While handset manufacturers may want to offer a few embedded games to sell their newer breed of handsets, the wireless network infrastructure vendors are really interested in the second variety. From user's perspective, it is more interesting but also more expensive.

  • Number of devices and operating systems that you must support. Presently, there are three contenders for operating systems (Palm, Pocket PC and Symbian) and dozens of devices under each OS. 

  • Whether you should use JVM (Java Virtual Machine) for inter-platform porting or use native code on specialized chips for superior performance

  • Setting technical standards for games to be developed and offered to public

  • Moral and ethical issues with respect to betting and pornography

  • Application development platform considering bandwidth optimization techniques for highly-interactive applications
