Coverage Information for Wireless Networks

Since wireless information highways coverage information is constantly changing, this page is expected to be constantly under construction - just like the road and gravel on our highways. 

For now, we are giving general information on coverage of different public shared wireless networks.  Please go to specific network providers to get more accurate information:

In USA

Paging Networks - only national networks being mentioned.  web site.

• SkyTel : National and international coverage. Go to SkyTel site for coverage information
• PageNet: National with over 10 million paging subscribers in USA, Canada, Puerto Rico & sSpain.- Go to their site for additional info.
• TelePage
• CommNet Paging - offers alpha/numeric paging and products in Montana, South Dakota, Idaho, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, North Dakota, New Mexico, and Iowa

 CDPD networks

All the CDPD network service providers offer regional coverage in one or more states. The following CDPD NSPs offer services in respective states:

• AT&T
• Bell Atlantic (includes Nynex) -
• GTE

Motient

• Motient network provides national coverage in over 90% of urban areas of USA.  To find if a coverage is provided in a specific city, go to coverage page of their web site coverage for more information.

Cingular (formerly BellSouth Wireless Data) wireless data network

• Like Motient, Cingular provides national coverage in a majority of urban areas (above 87%) of USA. Click here for more information.

NEXTEL's iDEN ESMR Network: Go to Nextel site for more specific coverage information.

Satellite Networks : American Mobile provides coverage in entire North America. See coverage map here.

In Canada

• Bell Mobility in Ontario & Quebec (in Canada) - Motient network in urban areas, PCS/CDMA services in some areas.
• Cantel AT&T Mobitex network in major parts of Canada - messaging, paging, etc.
• Clearnet ESMR Network - iDEN network - ESMR-based - text, voice. e-mail
• Microcell GSM network in Canada - GSM services in Quebec and Ontario for now
• Pagenet of Canada - paging services in major centers of Canada
• Telus (and BC Tel Mobility) offers CDPD wireless data services in Western Canada now, and is planning to cover the rest of Canada in future.
