RIM Unveiled its First Palm-Sized RIM 957 Wireless Handheld with Integrated email, Internet, Paging and Organized Features

Research In Motion unveiled its new RIM 957 Wireless Handheld™ that is powered by Neomar Inc.’s fully WAP-compliant browser.  Neomar’s WAP browser is also powers  RIM’s Blackberry email solution.

The RIM 957 features:  

  • A large high-quality screen
  • 32-bit Intel 386™ processor
  • 5MB flash memory, plus 512KB SRAM
  • Blackberry wireless email solution
  • Always on, Always Connected™ performance for easy notification of incoming email and other information
  • Synchronization with PC using docking-cradle and Puma Technology Intellisync software.
  • Support for wireless email, Internet, paging and organizer features, such as calendar, address book, task list

With Neomar’s WAP-compliant microbrowser, powered by Neomar’s gateway, wireless service providers and application developers will be able to deliver a variety of new intranet and Internet content, including critical corporate information as well as Web-based stock reports, driving directions and more through Neomar’s Mobile Portal.

Presently, Motient network is conducting extensive customer trials with RIM palm-size form factor with impressive results. BellSouth Intelligent Wireless Network is also suited for RIM’s wireless handheld

RIM has also enhanced its Blackberry wireless email solution with Blackberry 2.0 that now offers:  

·        Improvements to email folder management

·        Enhancements to organizer, such as synchronization support for personal organizer applications including, Lotus Organizer®, Microsoft Schedule and Microsoft Outlook®

·         SNMP support, performance monitoring, batch deployment tools, configurable security polices and asset tracking tools

In addition, RIM will be releasing an upgraded Blackberry Enterprise Server, an optional add-on software that offers centralized management and control.
