Harris Bank and National InterBank Launch Their Wireless Banking Services

To capitalize on the development of wireless financial technologies, more and more financial institutions are offering their customers the option to perform banking transactions via mobile devices. The most recent wireless services come from Harris Bank and National InterBank.

Harris Bank

Following the success of its market trail of wireless services in March of this year, Harris Bank, a fully-owned U.S. subsidiary of Bank of Montreal, will offer its Chicago-based retail customers the ability to conduct banking and investment services using Internet-enabled mobile phones.

Based on 724 Solutions’ Financial Services Platform (FSP), the bank’s service, Harris Wireless, will enable customers to access banking, investment, and information content via mobile devices. Customers can use Harris Wireless for the following:

  • Banking online
  • Viewing account balances and transactions histories
  • Transferring funds between Harris accounts
  • Requesting check re-orders
  • Requesting stock and index quotes
  • Viewing personal investment portfolios
  • Creating and receiving stock alerts
  • Checking news, weather, and horoscopes

Harris Wireless is an extension of Veev, Bank of Montreal ‘s Canadian wireless banking service.

National InterBank and Edify

In a related announcement, Edify Corporation, a provider of Internet and voice e-commerce portal solutions, and National InterBank, an online customer bank, have agreed to offer customers the option to perform Internet transactions via mobile phones and other wireless devices.

In September, National InterBank will integrate Edify’s Electronic Workforce (EWF) Wireless Internet application, a software platform that allows enterprises to create and deploy e-commerce solutions, into its existing S1 Retail Banking platform. Using WAP-enabled devices, customers can access and manage their bank accounts.
