Gravitate Partners with Simplylook to Upgrade Delivery of Wireless Internet Imaging

One barrier to widespread adoption of wireless location-based services, via a mobile phone or a telematics service, will be the quality of images received such as directional maps or product images. In an effort to upgrade the poor quality of wireless Internet imaging, Gravitate Inc. has partnered with Simplylook Inc. to offer users richer wireless content for location–based services.

The companies will market Location Precise streaming interactive imaging service to OEMs and infrastructure providers, carriers and networks operators, and application service providers or content providers. The product is expected to be available by the first quarter of 2001.

Location Precise

  • Integrates Simplylook's streaming interactive image software technology into the Gravitate Platform.
      • Simplylook software optimizes images for the small screen and resolutions of most wireless devices. Features interactive images that allow the user to zoom in/out around the image and access related links.
      • The Gravitate Platform a location enabling technology that is capable of maintaining, in real-time, the location of millions of moving data points.
  • Brings together three technologies: the Internet, wireless communications, and mobile positioning.

"Simplylook imaging software makes available some 3G wireless capabilities even before 3G network infrastructure deployments," said John Trobough, chief executive officer of Gravitate. "With the advanced Simplylook technology integrated into the Gravitate Platform, we offer the first total package that addresses" the user’s frustration with the poor quality of wireless Internet imaging.
