Motorola Unveils New Line of Personal Communications Solutions

Motorola, Inc. announced that it intends to arrive at the annual Consumer Electronics Show (January 6–9) with a portfolio full of wireless products and initiatives.

Personal Communications Products

  • V Series 100: Unveiled in Europe last fall, the V100 will now be available in the U.S. It is deemed to be the first true convergence device, with a full QWERTY keyboard, texting capability, Internet access, and phone communication.
  • V Series 60c: Keeping with the integrated features of the V Series, model 60c includes an exterior caller-ID display, a new user interface, SMS, voice activation, and a WAP microbrowser.
  • Timeport™ P7389i: Currently available in Europe, this GSM tri-band GPRS handset features Starfish TrueSync® software, voice note digital voice recorder, data over IrDA, and iTAP™ intelligent keypad entry.

Content Initiatives

  • Pizzacast Mobile Shopping concept: In partnership with Domino’s Pizza, Motorola will test consumer acceptance of m-commerce applications for delivery of goods and service via the wireless Web. The trial will take place in the Las Vegas area. Using a Motorola Internet-enabled phone, a customer could place an order for Domino’s pizza, requesting either pick-up or delivery.
  • mfinder: Motorola has entered into a licensing agreement with Cellmania to customize its mFinder. Designed for wireless site developers, mFinder allows for the viewing of over 10,000 wireless sites from 95 countries.
  • Full-motion video: PacketVideo and Motorola will work together to bring full-motion audio content to mobile devices. Their combined technologies will enable developers to design streaming media applications, including news clips, sports highlights, and video e-mail.
