Nortel Networks’ Wireless eBusiness Solution for Field Service Workers

By leveraging its wireless and CRM expertise, Nortel Networks says it is out to redefine the way business deliver sales, marketing, and customer service with the launch of its Wireless Field Service and Logistics solution.

Developed in conjunction with Accenture (formally known as Andersen Consulting), the product allows field service professionals to dial-up the corporate Web site to access customer service history, to update customer activity, and to check the latest requests from the customer service contact center using a WAP-enabled mobile phone.

The Wireless Field Service and Logistics Solution enables the enterprise to take advantage of the following:

  • Field service workers will have access to pertinent information about the customer and service problem.
  • Call Center agents will have real-time access to field workers, allowing for up-to-the-minute scheduling.
  • Field workers will have the tools to up-sell and cross-sell.
  • Streamline and shorten supply chains, improve fill rates, and offer customers new options for placing orders

Currently available in the U.S. and Canada, the Nortel Networks’ solution supports multiple carriers and devices, including WAP phones and Palm OS handheld devices. Other features include roaming, centralized directory management, end-to-end security, and device and application independence.
