Vignette’s recently launched Vignette eWireless, an e-business application that enables enterprises like WESCO to wireless conduct B2B transactions. By implementing a wireless system, the U.S. distributor will be able to distribute its individually tailored catalogs to customers on Palm PDAs pre-loaded with the products they routinely purchase. Customers can then order products, approve price quotes, purchase orders, and arrange for delivery at a specified time.

Vignette promises WESCO that its platform will dramatically reduce the cost of creating online catalogs by automating the gathering of product information from its suppliers, the company said.
