Wildcard Wireless, Domino’s Pizza, and Motorola Field Test Wireless POS Terminals

In anticipation of the explosive mobile commerce market where customer service and convenience could determine the success or failure of a company, WildCard Wireless Solutions, Inc. has collaborated with Domino’s Pizza and Motorola to commence field testing its wireless applications, TransAKT. The Canadian company claims that TransAKT will enhance customer service by removing some of the obstacles involved in purchasing goods and services.

The Trial:

TransAKT an intelligent accessory that clips-on to Motorola’s digital mode StarTAC® mobile phones to provide voice, data and transaction capabilities on the handheld.
The delivery staff of Mad Pizza, a Domino’s Pizza franchisee, will use the terminals to provide customers the option to pay with credit and PIN secured debit cards.
The acceptance of checks, loyalty, smartcard transactions will be made available to customers in the coming months.
To evaluate the following:
- Terminal functionality.
- Feedback from delivery personnel and management on usability features.
- Working relationships with financial institutions, transaction processors, and customers in both the U.S. and Canada.

The company’s first two applications, TransAKT and TransIST, an FM radio accessory, are expected to be available early in 2001, with others currently in development and slated for commercialization in 2001 and 2002.
