Cisco Introduces Aironet 350 Series To Further Enterprise Mobility

In response to customer demand for high-speed LAN connectivity, apparently driven by their mobile workers, Cisco has announced the Cisco Aironet 350 Series of 802.11b-compliant wireless LAN (WLAN) products including a new family of high-speed access points, bridges, and client adapters.

Cisco Aironet 350 Series of Products

  • Wireless Access Points
  • Wireless PC Cards
  • Wireless PCI Adapter
  • Wireless Bridge
  • Workgroup Bridge
  • Cisco Secure ACS for Windows v. 2.6

Products will be generally available beginning next month.

The Cisco Aironet 350 Series provides a fully secure, high performance mobile wireless solution, which scales the smallest and the largest of installations with minimal management overhead, said Charles Giancarlo, senior vice president and general manager of Cisco’s Commercial Line of Business. Combined with the Cisco Internet Mobile Office, announced in December, mobile professionals can now have secure, high speed access to the Internet and corporate intranet data and applications, he added.

Overview of Features

  • Security is primary concern for all installations.
  • Cisco’s wireless network security framework is based on proposed IEEE 802.1x standard meaning that enterprises can scale wireless deployments to thousands of users with a standard, centralized security management framework.
  • The framework supports dynamic, single-session, single-user encryption keys integrated with network logon.
  • 802.1x utilizes standard security protocols such as RADIUS to provide centralized user identification, authentication, dynamic key management and accounting.
  • Software features of the Cisco Aironet 350 Series include agility, infrastructure-based load balancing, and redundant hot standby and world mode functionality.
  • Hardware features provide IT managers with higher performance and simplified deployment while reducing the cost of installation.
  • Client adapters, access points and bridges feature 100 mW transmit power to provide the largest coverage area available.
