Gravitate Partners with Webraska to Drive Development of Enhanced Location-based Services

To capitalize on a potentially explosive market, some industry analysts forecasting that the location-based service market will be valued at $20-billion by 2006, Gravitate has entered into an agreement with Webraska to offer a platform for the development of advanced location-based services.

Under the terms of the agreement, Gravitate will integrate Webraska’s Personal Navigation Application Programming Interface (PN-API), which provides mapping, navigation, and traffic information technology, as a core element of the Gravitate Platform for Location Precise™ wireless Internet services, the companies said in a joint statement.

Gravitate will be responsible for marketing the solution to OEMs, infrastructure providers, and application service providers or content providers, initially, throughout North America and Europe, with plans to expand worldwide

The integrated solution will enable application developers to build a rich graphic representation of the precise location of various mobile users, their proximity to each other, or their proximity to common points of interests, then offer detailed directions to their chosen destination.

The Gravitate Platform integrates GVoice, a voice recognition system, and CLoUDS, a Client Locator and User Discovery System, which when combined with Webraska’s mapping and routing capabilities, will enable carriers and network operators to offer subscribers an array of value-added services.

Mobileinfo Comments and Advisory: This location-specific market is becoming crowded for infrastructure initiatives.  Unless the vendors have the depth, they may have a short stay. Gravitate is trying hard to become an important player!
