Meridian Project Systems Releases New Tool for the Mobile AEC Professional

Leveraging its reputation as a developer of project management software, such as ProjectTalk, for the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry, Meridian Project Systems (MPS) has partnered with Onsyss Mobile Computing, a mobile solutions provider, to release a new software Prolog Pocket™ for the Palm platform.

Traditionally information in the field has been captured with paper and pencil and then filed or entered into a computer database. Prolog Pocket promises to eliminate such labor and time consuming processes, by enabling the field work to manage and track data using a handheld Palm computer, including

  • Each contractors labor hours, work performed, and equipment
  • Weather conditions
  • Notable events and visitors
  • Safety notices
  • Notices of compliance
  • Punch lists

"Now, with Prolog Pocket, this information can be captured digitally at the source, and then simply uploaded into the project database. This means there are fewer errors, the data is captured sooner for better management decisions, and information management labor is reduced," said Al Marshall, vice president of sales and marketing for MPS.

In addition, Prolog Pocket synchronizes with Prolog Manager, the AEC industry’s project management application, making it ideal for superintendents, field engineers, quality inspectors, safety co-ordinators, and architects or engineers who have to spend considerable time on job sites, the company said.

Mobileinfo Comments and Advisory: Construction industry is very conservative and needs this.  It should welcome it. Message to the new breed of civil engineers and forward-looking construction superintendents, please move the oldest engineering industry forward and become information mobile - you already are physically mobile.

Note: This news release may contain forward-looking statements. Readers should take appropriate caution in developing plans utilizing these products, services and technology architectures.
