IBM Announces Enhancements to ThinkPads

IBM released new models of its existing line of notebooks, targeted at the small business.

Three new models in its notebook line were introduced: ThinkPad A21e essentials, the iSeries 1200, and iSeries 1300.

ThinkPad A21e essentials

Intel’s Celeron processors at either 650 MHz or 700 MHz
Hard drives ranging from 10 GB to 20 GB
CD-ROM or DVD drive
64 MB or RAM, expandable to 256 MB
A modem and NIC come as ports in the laptop, with an option to integrate the two on a single card

Refurbished iSeries

iSeries 1300

Intel’s Celeron 650 MHz processor

12.1-inch TFT display

10 GB hard drive

64 MB or RAM

24x CD-ROM drive

56 Kbps modem

Lithium ion battery

An 802.11b wireless LAN port

iSeries 1200 (without an 802.11b wireless LAN port)

600 MHz Celeron processor

Integrated modem

The company said the iSeries 1300 is designed with the small business in mind. The 802.11b wireless LAN port will allow small businesses to create wireless networks easily and affordably.
