room33 Introduces Upgrade of Mobile Internet Suite Applications

With the proliferation of wireless devices, operators, ISPs, and enterprises have been demanding a truly device-independent platform offering services designed for the mobile environment. One vendor hoping to attract their attention is room33 with the latest version of the room33 Open Service Platform (OSPr33) package, allowing them to build high-quality mobile Internet services.

Room33 has extended its offering of applications modules to include new m-commerce capabilities with a cash payment and credit system; MY WAP page allowing subscribers to create their own personalized WAP page; PIM services for e-mail management; SMS-based marketing service for permission based marketing via SMS.

Architectural Features of OSPr33

Mobile Internet platform is device independent, enabling access from a variety of wireless devices such as WAP phones, Palm devices, plus i-mode and j-hone handsets.
Technological frame-work promotes a plug-in concept for new components from either room33 or a third-party vendors.
Compatible with Java, XML, WML, HTML, Palm7 Web clipping, and i-mode.
Supports new content formats such as VoiceXML and XHTML, and integrates with legacy systems.
Leverages the next generation of networks, GPRS, EDGE, and UMTS.

Enhancements

Increased functionality with a flexible information server.
More extensive portal management and administration and customer tools.
Reinforced security measures for hacker protection, built-in Spam prevention mechanism.
Extended logging for reporting and tracking usage patterns and behaviors.

OSP r33 can be installed at the client’s own site or host by room33.

Mobileinfo Comments and Advisory: It appears as a worthwhile effort. But where is the differentiator?
