Ceragon to Offer High-Quality Wireless Gigabit Ethernet Connection

Realizing that the next generation of networks will demand greater flexibility and intelligence to manage high capacity data traffic, the broadband wireless systems vendor Ceragon Networks Ltd. has introduced a high-frequency Gigabit wireless Ethernet system, FibeAir™ 1000, to meet the anticipated demand.

This new release is part of Ceragon’s FibeAir product line of broadband wireless networking systems.

The Tel Aviv-based company said the system was designed to bridge high-capacity connections across the metropolitan area, making it an alternative to the deployment of a fiber network.

Overview of Features of the FibeAir 1000

  • Based on a modular and scalable architecture, it is ideal for the expansion of IP networks, as demand for service grows.
  • Operates across all Ceragon supported frequency bands: 18, 23, 26, 28, 29, 31, and 38 GHz.
  • Enables a single port connection to Gigabit Ethernet or provisioning up to 8x100 Based-T Fast Ethernet connections.
  • Designed for deployment in multiple urban applications.
  • Suitable for ultra-high capacity IP connections in wireless metropolitan rings, high-speed access connections, and private networks.

Like other Ceragon products, FibeAir 1000 enables immediate next generation network deployment, said Shraga Katz, president and CEO of Ceragon. "FibeAir’s intelligent network element continues to support multiple high-speed networks including IP, ATM, SONET, and SDH," Katz added.

Mobileinfo Comments and Advisory: Even though, broadband has had bad press lately and may not have delivered, it does have the potential of solving last mile problem in wireless network infrastructure.  It is good to see Ceragon come up with high-frequency support where spectrum is still available..
