Comverse Launches Mobile Portal for Location-Sensitive Services

Leveraging the strengthens inherent in the wireless environment, while addressing its limitations, Comverse has developed a Mobile Portal that combines built-in personalized and location-based applications with an easy-to-use interface, making it easier, less cumbersome, to retrieve information on a small keyboard.

While most mobile portals ‘shrink’ the Internet in order to fit it on a mobile handset, Comverse has created a mobile service that not only brings the Internet to the handset, but also creates a new mode of communication that delivers a high-level of location-based and personalized services, explained Zeev Bregamn, chief executive officer of Comverse.

Features of Comverse’s Mobile Portal

  • Offers built-in applications such as Unified Messaging, Nex2Me™ mobile community services, eXa.Profile PIM, m-commerce, and m-banking.
  • Incorporates other access platforms such as exa.Flow, ISMSC™, Progency™, and Tel@GO™ (natural speech portal).
  • Integrates with third-party applications.
  • Features MAGNET (Mobile Application Gateway for the Net), an Application Programming Interface (API) that facilitates the presentation of location-based, user-relevant information.
  • Offers a ‘dynamic’ homepage with simple icons, displaying only content and services designated by the user.
  • Updates homepage content according to the rules set by the user, such as user-location, or triggers, including time of day, events, and personal calendar.
  • Provides a simple users interface displaying detailed, relevant content, requiring only minimal user clicking.
  • Compatible with any microbrowser in 2G, 2.5G, and 3G networks.

Mobileinfo Comments and Advisory: We see this space getting crowded. Only strong vendors will stay in this game next year. We would recommend strong partnership with portals to survive.
